alter ("the Extension") is a Chrome extension that lets you apply your own CSS and JavaScript rules to websites. This policy describes what data the Extension handles.

Data stored on your device

Rules, secrets (such as API keys you choose to save), context-menu settings, and optional rule storage (text, files, or other data your rules save) are stored locally in your browser using Chrome extension storage and IndexedDB. This data stays on your device unless a rule you install sends it somewhere.

Network requests

The Extension does not send your browsing history or rule contents to the alter developer by default. If you use a rule that calls an external API (for example through the built-in proxy), that request goes to the URL you configure, and any secret you attach is sent only as an authorization header to that URL. You control which rules you install and which endpoints they call.

Permissions

The Extension requests access to websites so it can inject the CSS/JS rules you enable. It uses storage to keep those rules and related data on your device. It does not sell user data or use it for advertising.
