What is ROSE editor?

Robot Operating System Editor (ROSE) connects NVIDIA isaacsim and isaaclab with a specialised code editor, built using Void editor (an open source VSCode fork). This allows anyone to build, design and train robots using AI. It also simplifies the installation process for beginners allowing them to install with a few clicks. ROSE editor gives AI access to everything, so the AI can see & edit what you have open in isaacsim and help write training scripts.


ROSE editor is currently in alpha, please join the discord if you want to participate, otherwise it is recommended to wait for the open beta, which will be coming in the late January/early February.

Installation

By default ROSE editor will install isaacsim and isaaclab using pip and a uv environment. This allows you to get up and running quickly. ROSE editor also supports exisiting installations of isaacsim and isaaclab.


There are two options when installing:


1. Install using an exisiting installation of isaacsim and lab.

Located the folder of the exisiting installation during the installer and select the venv you have used.


2. New installation

Select the location where you wish to install ROSE editor. The installation folder will look something like the image below:

Account & Subscriptions

Before subscribing an account must be made from this website. Click the account button in the website navbar and make an account. During account verification you will receive a 6 digit code to verify your email address. After verifying your account you can sign into your account in app, on the settings tab (the cog icon at the top right of the app).


Subscriptions take place in app, from the settings tab and are managed via stripe. You can cancel your subscription at any time, just click on the manage subscription button below, in the website footer or in the app. Here you provide the email address used with the subscription (your stripe email address) you will then be given the option to alter the payment information or cancel the subscription. ROSE editor does not require a subscription, and is free to use. The AI integration requires a subscription to be used, features include full knowledge of isaacsim and isaaclab from the official documentation, access to open scene in isaacsim or isaaclab for improved debugging, the ability to create, edit and delete any part of the open scene, writing training scripts, debugging importing and exporting policies and models…
